Thanks to a partnership between Rice University researchers and Houston nonprofit Technology For All, Houston grandmother Leticia Aguirre began hosting what's believed to be the nation's first residential "Super Wi-Fi" hot spot in April 2011. Super Wi-Fi, a long-range, wall-pentrating version of Wi-Fi that is broadcast on unused TV channels, could be a boon for both urban and rural residents who lack broadband Internet access.

  • @1hellfighter1 And after a decade people will wonder why you're still an idiot!

That super-wifi uses the same frequency that analog TV used to use, but now since we've gone all digital, the FCC allowed those frequency's that were used as TV signal to be used for wifi.

  • The transmitting range is not that far unlike 4G. I think this technology is only good for big corporation school and public building.

  • BOW BOW......

  • Really interesting stuff, this is going to be one hell of a a service if it takes of. It is going to really help people in rural communities the most that cant get a physical connection. The ability to re-broadcast the signal once receive throughout the home is really cool. I have read an article recently that Microsoft is also going to be doing something similar if not the same as this in the uk thought i dont know about Scotland, I wanna get involved in this could you pm me some more info, tnx

  • Nice community project !

But after a decade people will wonder why the entire neighborhood has cancer..
