On Sunday, April 11, 2010, the much-awaited Ride IV Reasons--a Guinness World Record attempt by George Hood to re-establish himself as the world's top endurance spin cycler--began in Aurora, Illinois, in the Aurora Marketplace Shopping Center at 75th Street and Route 59.

It is slated to last until April 24.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the event and show support for George Hood and the causes for which hes riding: the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and the United Way of Fox Valley.

At the Ride IV Reasons Headquarters, there are many activities and entertainment events planned during the nearly two-week ride including live music, kids activities, demonstrations and information booths, and bikes to ride along with George.

The more hoopla that surrounds me, the less my mind is focused on the grueling task at hand, explains Hood. Plus, we really want people to come out, say Hi! and have fun, then stick around for awhile to check out the great entertainment we have lined up, and of course donate to these great causes. These musicians and volunteers are donating their time, we are confident our neighbors will enjoy themselves and be moved to donate generously.

For those who cannot attend in person but want to keep tabs on this historic event, there is a live webcast for the duration of the ride posted on five NextMedia radio station websites.

These local stations are major sponsors of the event and cover the west and southwest suburbs of Chicago. The stations are 95.9 The River, 98.3 WCCQ, Star 96.7, 100.7 WRXQ and 1340 WJOL. Its easy to find the live webcasts online: simply visit http://www.RideGeorgeRide.org and click on any radio station logo.

Once on the stations web site, users should click on the Ride George Ride banner. The live web feed will be posted on these pages 24 hours a day. There is also a link to donate online. Additionally, all the information on the scheduled entertainment and activities is posted on the radio station websites on a Ride IV Reasons calendar of events.

In addition to the webcasts, each station is broadcasting live updates and interviews throughout the ride to help listeners keep up with Georges progress, encouraging them to help out by donating to the causes.
