The Cockatoo Run can take you to either Robertson or continue on through to Moss Vale. Enjoy a relaxing day's train travel from Sydney through the Royal National Park, cross the impressive Stanwell Park viaduct skirting the sea cliffs and beaches to Wollongong. Take in the steep ascent of the Illawarra Escarpment and the coastal rainforest - a climb of 600 metres in only 16 kilometres

See link http://www.3801limited.com.au/

The New South Wales 44 class locomotives were one of the first locomotives built by A. E. Goodwin in the Alco tradition.

  • aaah, early into Central already setup for the run, is why 86 is in front, no working turntable, 64 leads out

  • @Marhleet yes correct her first day on the job with the cockatoo run we use the two 44's in case the 64 at the point blows out. I am fairly sure it was the first heavy run as well.

  • A bit overkill double 44's and only 4 cars but the second 44 waqs probably for insurasnce incase 4464 failed

  • It was her first heavy run to Robertson for the 64 and yes 86 was the back-up

  • @TrainSpotterX if 86 is in front and 64 is running backwards, which one is there and which is the backup ?

  • The 86 was the back-up

  • she looks good back in her original livery. Need to get in touch with someone there so be on the mailing list for runs. Then work out a trip to Sydney :)

  • Yes I feel the same way pal, I work with those 44's and they will all be re sprayed back to NSWGR livery at some point looking as good as 4464

  • I hate it when I see graffiti on nice old trains like that.
