BBC news report covering problems raised with NTU about the ticket prices for our graduation ceremony.
they have wormed their way out of providing financial information about what our money is to be spent on, and have lied - "we always try to break even" - which is completely false. graduation does not cost a quarter of a million pounds.
I find it funny how the university claims that it always aims to break even on such events yet will not release the info regarding where all of the monies collect from these events goes.
Its not an institution anymore. Its just another money making company. Disappointing to say the least.

nice one!!! the uni has had £18,000 out of me in tution fees not to mention all the other monies i have spent within the uni over the past 5 years. I wouldn't mind a charge but £25 is steep. Derby at £8.50 is v reasonable i think.

The comparison of other uni's tickets was very interesting. This should be a day for both students and the uni to celebrate not for the uni to cynically exploit our families.

Wish I could have come to support. Good on you. Considering many parents have to stay in a hotel as well (due to travel times) such as mine and pay the inflated petrol costs it all adds up to be a pretty hefty price!
NTU break even..... my arsehole.
