Understanding TV News lingo can help get your story covered. In this video I break down what vo/sots, nat pacs and kickers are (to name a few) and share how to utilize them in your pitch.

  • @sethodell A NATPKG usually gets a an anchor intro and tag, but the SOT and NATS do the story telling. There is no VO for a NATPKG. I've got an example of one on my youtube page. Check out the "Beat of the rogue" video.

  • @newsjackass I'm a bit confused. Who does the voice over for the Natural Sound PKG? Is it read by the anchor? If so, that's what I know as an Anchor Pkg. Or is it something else?

Either way you bring up a good point. From market to market lingo can be a little different. It doesn't hurt to chat up a photog the next time you work with them and see what they're using at your local stations.

  • Post something with you singing and playing. I bet it would sound good. I've have several network pitches. Need help, I keep seeing my ideas air.

  • Thanks for following through on the lingo video! I found your 5 Tips video through LinkedIn.
