(HD 1080p) LIRR train 615, the second morning through train from Port Jefferson to Penn Station, arrives and leaves Jamaica on track 1. As the train leaves, it apparently switches into electric mode for the trip into Penn Station.

DM30AC's 512 (leading), 506 (trailing)

  • @nyshortline Never mind the engine sounds. Totally different. 710's are awesome.

  • @five0fan Yeah, typical GE low-bidder junk.

  • @nyshortline Obviously. These things are much more reliable than those Genneshits.

  • @usnavymuscle EMD built it and Super Steel in Schenectady, NY assembled them.

  • For the DM30s to switch to E mode third rail must be present.. You can easily switch while moving. The throttle must be in idle before turning the mode selection switch from Diesel to Electric mode. It's very easy to do.

  • Wrong.

  • Who built the locomotive ?

  • I like these engines much better than the P32AC/DM's.

  • in order 2 switch to eletric operator must kill engine leave it in newtral until near 3rd rail.then swich 2 eletric with a toggle switch.
