My 'homage' to the music of Steve Reich, "Duplicity" is an instrumental piece for a single violin loop and a live violin, based on Reich's seminal "Clapping Music". I initially record the 12 quaver loop, and then start by playing in sync with it. Every 8 repeats of the loop I jump by one quaver, in order to create a new cross-rhythm. This continues until eventually the live violin returns in sync to the loop.......Simple!!
