  • great tip will try at the end of this year I put some willow in a jar in the kitchen window and they took .

  • @spraggerdog .

Hi, Thats great. Ive been cutting willow recently, and you just stick the branches in the ground and they take. And, the funny thing is the bigger the branch the better they seem to sprout and grow. If you have a chance try experimenting with just sticking a branch in the ground to see how easy it takes.

With these cuttings I do, I do find that apart from the gooseberries, with cuttings, most will take at any time of the year.

  • Just thought Id say that 35 of the 55 little josta berry cuttings in that yellow growbag in the video have now been growing as bushes in the ground for only two years. And, Ive taken 700 cuttings from them this last couple of weeks. Cant wait to see them grow.

  • Hi, The pin size drain holes are already there. if there rent any on yours then you could make some.

  • Hi. No, Jostaberries grow easy, just like blackcurrents, willow, and goji berries from cuttings. Gooseberries too, but they die back a bit, then they come back. gw

  • root tangle!

  • yeah....that's my boy...smart idea.love it.

  • @greenwomble the willow will make you a natural rooting hormone if you brew a branch or two

  • going to try it with my kaffir lime.

  • Thanks for the idea. This will work great for just about anything I want to start from cuttings. :)

  • @greenwomble

Yes I did that. I thought it was great until I found out that the roots travel tremendous distances. I discovered that bit of unhappy news when a root pushed up the water main to the house and broke it. The break was about 50 ft from the tree, and that was not the end of the root. It was bee-lining to our back yard to the septic system. Friends told me of their willows in front traveling about an acre to destroy their in-ground pool at the other end of the property.

  • K.I.S.S=Keep It Simple Stupid!! =D Great wortk lad! Thanks for a good tip. Cheers from Sweden!

  • I took your advice and grew my topiary cutting this way and Wham! Success with every single cutting. I just kept the Topiary trimmings and stripped the lower shaft and stuck them in. Now I have ROOTED PLANTS and plenty of them ALL FREE! I have almost two hundred now. £££££££££££££s Thanks.
