Some examples of Santana / McLaughlin licks, with looped rhythm chords in the background with a metronome. Excerpts from single take improvisations as usual.

Based on "A Love Supreme" written by John Coltrane.

Gear:
Axe - Gibson Les Paul Custom
Amp - Mesa Boogie Mark 1

  • man, you sound just like the frantic Johnny Mac in the early days..ment as compliment, mind you..

  • monotonous brother

    put some soul into it

slow down a little, breath, and then attack..

silence is as important as sound

  • good chops a little frantic, speed is good. too much speed is boring, miles said not playing is more powerful than playing, its the word

  • PRS might appeal to young dudes that like a more modern tone. But that vintage 70's vibe that I get from Gibson is damn near impossible to get out of a PRS. PRS is all hot pickups man! They wind em up hot to compensate for the fact that the guitar is light on WOOD! The thing that people hate about Les Pauls (the weight) is what delivers the tone - not some hot ass pickups The hotter the pickups the more your tone you lose man!

  • @osensei2987 it sounds fine compared to those guitars

  • I covered The Life Divine on my video titled " Love Devotion Surrender Medley".

  • Further more Santana played a Gibson SG w/ P90's, Gibson Les Paul, Gibson L6S, Yamaha SG all before he started playing PRS! The PRS sounds like shit compared to the other guitars he played in the past! So that just shows how ignorant you are.

  • Dude you don't have a clue! You need to do some research concerning Santana before you offer your opinion.

Listen to the Love, Devotion and Surrender LP that Santana did with John Mclaughlin in the 70's and you'll see that this cover sounds just like it. In short you don't know WTF you're talking about!

    Go trolling somewhere else!
