This is how we made the aquarium, the whole system is around 500 gallons (including the sump) it is amazing how time passes by, it is now 4 month old and everything is healthy.
The amazing part is that I used live water, rock and sand from the sea, and I put my first fish in after 1 day, and it is around 4 months now and it is superb.

  • i have a very strong light ( 96 watts) and im having a problem with algae.....its growing on everything, rocks, glass ect. i cant put any corals in my 10 gallon tank because the algae will kill it. i am looking for Coraline algae but not this green algae. id like to hear from your guys on how to get rid of it . i've heard you need to do water changes ...ive done 1 each week 2gallons outa 10g ....it is STILL growing. please give me recommendations of filtration /methods of getting rid of it!

  • my recomendation is that first you need to use RO/DI water, if you use regular drinking water you will provide the algae with a lot of nutrition, but not with RO/DI water.

    secondly i recommend to use a sufficient UV it will help a lot.

    and lat get some turbo snails, and some algae eaters like tangs, they will start eating every thing for you.

    best of luck, i hope this will work for you,

  • What program did you use to sketch it up on the computer?

  • @lamecow21 i understand what he was saying i was being a criticizing asshole. much like you are right now. dumb fuck.

  • @BowHunt1229 because your puny brain can't comprehend it. "it doesn't make any sense"

  • @pn45 A tang in a 10 GALLON ?! NO WAY ! DO NOT listen to this recommendation! A 40 GALLON is too small for a single tang !

  • @GraffFreak7- The other thing to keep in mind is that algae feeds from light and if you keep your lights on for too long its more likely that they will thrive in your tank. The ideal amount of light should no pass 8 hours a day. I personally only keep my HQI lights on for 6 hours a day and my Actinics for 8.

  • @GraffFreak7 That's an indication that you have huge amounts of nutrients in the water which algae feeds from. The most common is Phosphate. If you are using tap water you are not only adding a large amount of phosphate but also other heavy metal particles that will most likely kill your corals. If you are mixing your own water, like suggested below, make sure to use Reverse of Osmosis water only, specially for your top up water.

  • wow this is an amazing aquarium i want something like this in my own house. how much time did it take you to build and how much money did it cost you? could i like have your design ? :P

  • no tangs! its a 10!

    @pn45
