  • Why would you do that ? The whole point is license plates are super easy to steal, security screws makes it harder. No thief would take the "5 min" to cut out a plate when they can get one on the next car in 20 seconds.

    Thanks for looking anyway.

  • True, some thieves are smart, but why go to the trouble of "researching" anything when you can just go get another plate? Part of the reason they steal stuff is because it is easy, why not make it tougher on them?

  • So you're saying it's better to not even try to slow them down?

The key to this is they don't want YOUR license plate, they want A license plate. They will go for the easiest target. Thanks for looking and commenting though.

    cheers!

  • Theifs would just cust the license plate out of there, bypassing the screws

  • @danwat1234

I guess it's possible, but I doubt anyone would take that much time. They don't care what plate they get, so they take the easiest one. Thanks for commenting though.

  • so what is to stop me from just using plyers to take out the screws?

  • @nataripol

Nothing. The idea is to make the thief take more time, which they don't want to do. Why spend 5 min messing with your plate when they can get the one next to it in 20 seconds?

  • it's a cheap set, so a thief can buy them and use te screwdriver,

  • This "security" set is freely available to thieves as well...

  • hey thats smart! i like it!!

  • suppose i take a file to a flat head driver i could make one

  • @s14sr If I may suggest a product improvement here. I would offer in a future upgrade, some sort of grommet that has to be installed from where the plate mounts on the inside of the vehicle that would lock the screws into the grommets for even more protection. Also offer a more sophisticated screw head design in stainless steel so that they don't rust and offer more bits so that if I lose one I have more to back up. Thanks.

  • To may excuses posted here. The idea is correct. If I walked up to a vehicle to steal it's plate(s) and saw that my screw driver or bit would not fit the screw head, I would move to the car right next to it that my screwdriver or bit did fit. Your not going to spend extra time cutting or prying off the plate making a bunch of noise and looking suspicious. The idea here is time.

  • thieves are smart these days... I'm not surprised they have done some research and probably bought themselves this kit.
