A traditional Kannada bhajan by Purandara Dasa. Sung by P. Jayavanti Devi in the late 1940s.
Smt. Jayavanti Hirebet (nee Padukone) was born in 1927 into a talented family of artists and performers in Mangalore. The musically inclined Jayavanti Devi recorded 4 Kannada bhajans which became popular and also has a few film songs to her credit.

A fine song. Sung beautifully. I am glad somebody has preserved this for over 6 decades. This song has been sung by many people in different tunes but this is simply outstanding.
