American Hi Definition and Sweetwater Digital of Van Nuys, CA, hosted the first annual Renewable L.A., a day long "consumption-lite" eco fest, celebrating renewable energy and transportation. The first annual solar open house and green holiday gift event put a spotlight on the largest solar installation in the area, constructed by Energy Efficiency Solar of Pomona, CA, comprised of 600, 190-watt individual solar panels. In addition to test rides of two Vectrix Maxi-Scooters and three ZENN's, the over 300 visitors who attended the event had a special treat when an EV1, one of the handful not notoriously crushed in 2005 by the all-electric car's maker, GM, made a surprise appearance, driving onto the event's parking lot. I spoke with Alexandra Paul, actress, EV1 advocate and activist, who appeared in the movie, Who Killed the Electric Car, about the momentous occasion. Zan Dubin Scott has more in a writeup on Edmunds.com.
Alexandra said it all. The Volt will go 40 miles, while the EV1 with 10 year old battery technology go over 100 miles! GM is spending the taxpayers money to build that "half"stupid car.

--Cause GM has only greed as it's company goal!
If they put people before profits, we'd have all-electric cars available in dealerships across America.
Ask why the average economy of European cars has been over 45 mpg for a decade and our lays flat at 25 mpg? Vroom vroom...
Ralph Nader was right then and he's right now. GM and other greedy Multinat'l conglomerates value money over all else and it's killing us.
When Car and healthcare cos decide for money over humans, we're toast. Vote Nader

I think Alexandra Paul is a really intelligent woman.

Ya, Why don't they just manufacture more EV 1's with the new batteries. The Volt comes out in 2010 and goes forty miles on a charge. Somethings messed up.

I don't know, to me, people are so stupid and conformist GM could shit in their lungs and they'd think it was perfume. In fact, that's pretty much what they've done...

Cool car. GM said there was no interest, they didn't ask me, a midwesterner. GM best do the Volt correctly or GM might be going bye bye.
