  • Disfellowshipping was practiced by the Christian Congregations in Paul's day. So was reinstatement.

Read what happens to the Christian Congregations when this "quarantining" from spiritually diseased ones isn't practiced right. Revelation Chapters 2 and 3.

  • @megthepearl Did I ask anywhere WHY disfellowshipping takes place? My question is specifically about knowledge to the congregation as to why the disfellowshipping took place for protection of the congregation.

  • I dont think so either. Disfellowshipping a molester for protection and taking him in again, with one difference, that when he come back no one will ever know what he is capable of.... Maybe the reinstating is the problem. If i was to be a leader of a congregation, or a so-called elder i would atleast inform the familys with children.

  • I think the simplest solution would be if someone is disfellowshipped for a reason like child molestation or any crime that has a chance of hurting someone in the congregation for the future, they notify the congregation. It doesn't even have to be publically but tell people in the congregation and make sure they know why they're disfellowshipped so they can safeguard themselves.

  • if jw`s doctrines are falls then it would be correct in the view of the bible to be disfellowshipped. But your point about reinstated molesters is an evil thing to do. Ive even heard that parents that are fresh in a congregation. will not be warned about who is molesters. I understand the principle of forgiving, but in this case its different, because anyone could be a molester. But i can not give any good answer if the disfellowshipping is good or not.

  • The question isn't whether disfellowshipping is good or bad, but the question is in regards to whether it is really a "safeguard" for the congregation as they say it is. Given the child molester thing I'm guessing not.

  • Look at this guy go talk about OBSESSED how many videos has this guy got one might think he is trying to start his own cult . What do you do behind your closed door coward ?

  • you forget the saying 'do not judge.'

they go against their own teaching

  • I know of a 'brother' who molested and abused his adopted children for years and never got in any kind of trouble. When people started finding out what had been going on, he sold his house and moved to Arizona, the other side of the country, and joined another congregation there. I guarantee they don't know about his past. Larry Burroughs, I think he's in Flagstaff area now, so watch out for him if your from there, real asshole!

  • Not only do judicial hearings happen behind closed doors, but the elders won't let you use a recording device to document things that are said.
