The Battle of Passchendaele was one of the major battles of the First World War, taking place between July and November 1917. In a series of operations, Entente troops under British command attacked the Imperial German Army. The battle was fought for control of the village of Passchendaele (modern Passendale) near the town of Ypres in West Flanders, Belgium. The objective of the offensive was to achieve a breakthrough, outflanking the German Army's defences, and forcing Germany to withdraw from the Channel Ports. The offensive also served to distract the German army from the French in the Aisne, who were suffering from widespread mutiny.

************************************************
After the guns are silent
After your wounds have healed
After those crosses have been planted in all those fields
After that long boat ride
All the way across the sea
And after this train carries thee

Chorus:
I will love you after the war
I'll love you for always, forever more
I will love you after the war
Forever, for always, and more

After your boots dry
And the tobacco's all but gone
Along with all those postcards you've carried under your arm
After I remember all the words I couldn't say
And after this long night fades away

I will love you after the war
I'll love you for always, forever more
I will love you after the war
Forever, for always, and more

After this blackbird
Lifts up from off your chest
After your soul takes its final rest
My love, I forgive you; you never planned to die
And Love, I'll place two pennies over your eyes

I will love you after the war
I'll love you for always, forever more
I will love you after the war
Forever, for always, and more

  • ok I'm not trying to be a nit pick but Passchendaele is about WWI and you have a clip of Adolf Hitler that was WWII so why is a clip of him

  • @philipstephenbird Where the hell is Adolf Hitler in the clip?

  • I've never seen this on iTunes I appreciate the upload but why is the track a 128 instead of a 256 if purchased from their store?

  • @Theaterboi01 Oh my mistake! But I haven't bought it on iTunes. Ok I'll see what I can do.

  • Trouble with our world today is that people don't "get" the message, simply cos they're too busy NITPICKING over trivial crap. Doesn't matter what scenes were in the vid.. It's all about WAR, any damm war and the message that many young people seem to not "get".....LEST WE FORGET all the brave young men and women that were lost!! Beautiful, very moving video, and riveting footage. It will never get "dated"!! And I'll never ever forget!! Job well done!!

  • @philipstephenbird Where is this mythical clip of Hitler that you are going on about?

  • A great song to such a sad ocassion. Passchendaele, October 26 1917 over 600,000 died both sides of the line. May their memories nor their names never be forgotten

  • @RangerGhost haha at this point philipstephenbird has got the answer.

  • @philipstephenbird dude the clip is from the movie man..

and it is not adolf hitler smartass..

  • Great song but so many men didnt deserve to die R.I.P

  • @philipstephenbird

Good Question and I've noticed that no one answered you.

Hitler was a corporal at the end of WWI. He was also at the last two battles of Ypres. That is the official name of the battles, which included a piece of property known as Passchendaele. Someone should have answered you.

  • First of all, Hitler was not well known during that period. Also Paul Gross was sympathetic to the Germans who fought and were killed in WWI. If Hitler was included in this film, than the audiance will lose the sympathy that Paul tried to show.
