This was in the top 10 of most requested songs by the 3 children (now adults) growing up at our house! I first saw this live in Vancouver, Canada. Leon Bibb & Ann Mortifee headlined. I thought THEY were the best. Then heard the one with Scott Walker & thought HE was the best. Could only get this version & now it's the one we've grown used to. May this revue live on forever: the songs are worth sharing always! Thank you, poster!
:) I guess this could become a Texas experience. It was in Texas (Alley Theater) that my ex and I went to see this back in the 70's (had to be before 74). The good old days indeed. :) This was the cast who sang it in Houston and their voices are what I want to hear when these songs are played.
@corazon5601 Hi... Yes me and a (very) few friends would sit out in the cabana during those hot summer nights by the pool and listen to each of these songs on the LP set. Must have been 1973, 1974 and 1975. Those were indeed "the good old days." (By the way, Lubbock is in the western side of the Panhandle of Texas!) Take care!
My Father performed this song at a Sufi gathering and then lit the sheet music on fire. I've loved this American Review of Jaques Music since I was a little kid.
@warrenjlc84 you're from Lubbock! man, i grew up in Nacogdoches and used to listen to this on stage when i was 17! mind you, i am currently 24, but still nice to know there is someone from East Texas on here as well! nice to meet you!
I grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and while still in high school (the early 1970s), I used to listen to this LP on the stereo out by the pool. I still love it!

No offense to Shuman, but this is absolutely horrible compared to Scott Walker.
