Thai Protesters Disperse Under Military Pressure

Hundreds of anti-government protesters in Thailand dispersed peacefully as heavily armed soldiers closed in to dismantle the main demonstration site in the Thai capital. As Daniel Schearf reports from Bangkok, tension in the city eased as red-shirted demonstrators headed home.

@TheMotherEagle UK people have awakened, I can see from G3 protest. Protest is not stupidity, it's the sign of citizen's overwhelming suppression. The Thais are awakening too, I am happy to see that people do not watch TV and news anymore, they're more into facebook network, voice of people. We have a saying 'when the poor have nothing left to eat, they will eat the rich"

@Sinderking I hear what you say and fully agree with you. This isn't just a problem in Thailand it exists even in the developed world. Whilst social mobility has declined in the UK it is certainly better than in Thailand and I do feel for people not having opportunity to move up on the scale. Its extremely disheartening to see such a warm bunch of people being continually shat on from a huge height.

@TheMotherEagle We've been dreaming of that forever. People here almost give up with politics only. They promise the perfect equality of social classes but every time, it's always the same story. We have the system, the system is there but 'a politician' is just blocking all the benefits of the people and steal them and make them his own.

There is a simple way to avoid these ongoing confrontations once and for all. You create a system that represents all Thai people and tackle the grotesque inequality and institutionalised culture of bullying. Have a system that offers opportunity based upon merit and stop oppressing the lives of the under privileged. I know I am dreaming. The Thai army seems to spend a worrying amount of effort suppressing the people rather than defending the country from foreign threats.
