I heard this song on a late night tv show on my basic cable that plays very old songs like these.
I don't even know how to describe how much I enjoy this piece. For being 17, I don't have any idea why everyone else my age doesn't like this kind of art. it is extraordinary. This is one of the best performed pieces I have ever seen, if not the best.

Unbelievably wonderful singing, artistry, taste, grace, deportment, authority, sincerity....need I go on? Fashions may change, but this is timeless. Maureen Forrester was a jewel in the crown of Canadian musicians.

That beautiful, rich contralto!

Her wonderful diction and rich, expressive, glorious timbre combine to make a magical and unforgettable performance. Thanks so much for sharing this gem, maulwurfchen. :)

Absolutely loved it. Thank you so much for uploading it. Could you upload the next one she sings (Schubert's Serenade D920)?

A unique voice. A contralto with soprano notes. I was deeply saddned to hear of her passing. Thankfully we are gladenned for such technochiy which endeards her to us forever.

Rest in Peace lovely, talented and gracious lady. Thank you for the music.

What fine diction! Not only does she shape the melody beautifully, you can understand every word. Splendid singing.
