  • I heard this song on a late night tv show on my basic cable that plays very old songs like these.

I don't even know how to describe how much I enjoy this piece. For being 17, I don't have any idea why everyone else my age doesn't like this kind of art. it is extraordinary. This is one of the best performed pieces I have ever seen, if not the best.

  • Unbelievably wonderful singing, artistry, taste, grace, deportment, authority, sincerity....need I go on? Fashions may change, but this is timeless. Maureen Forrester was a jewel in the crown of Canadian musicians.

  • That beautiful, rich contralto!

  • Her wonderful diction and rich, expressive, glorious timbre combine to make a magical and unforgettable performance. Thanks so much for sharing this gem, maulwurfchen. :)

  • Absolutely loved it. Thank you so much for uploading it. Could you upload the next one she sings (Schubert's Serenade D920)?

  • A unique voice. A contralto with soprano notes. I was deeply saddned to hear of her passing. Thankfully we are gladenned for such technochiy which endeards her to us forever.

  • Rest in Peace lovely, talented and gracious lady. Thank you for the music.

  • @maulwurfchen: So beautiful! Thanks for posting this. Have you got the following song (Schubert's "Zögernd leise")?

  • Rest in Peace, Ms Forrester... you were and will continue to be magnificant!
