I always see trainers work with the front feet and not the back feet. or they'll pick up the back feet quickly & return to the front feet. in your vidoe you state "it might take a long time for the horse to learn" what I would like to know is the length of time the horse should learn to pick up his feet to be trimmed. I know all horses learn a different rate but you've work with enough horses as a professional to give a general idea of the length of time it should take under the best situation.

So what if I have already accodently taught my horse that he can pull his hoof away??
-
is it cheating to pick up their hoofs when they just woke up or still semi in sleeping mode?
i just tried to pick up my horse his hoof today for like a second and first he "lifted" it up and hten right away pulled it away from me as he always does and i let him, and then i repeated it and he already let me hold it longer even though i let go of it right away.. is it really this easy or did i cheat by doing it when he's not as energetic?

This video is awesome! The horse I tried this with will pick up her front feet fine, but last week (i only see her once a week, she isnt mine unfortunately) she wouldn't pick up her rear left hoof, but she was fine on the other side. This week she wouldnt pick up either, she just stomped on my foot...any advice would be most appreciated? :)

Wow... what a tall muscular neck on that horse!

No matter how many of your videos I watch, Mr T's size always amazes me for a Mustang. How tall is he? He looks like at least 16.2 hands, even taller when he's standing like a rock lol

my filly.. she had little to no handling. i finally got her to pick up feet without having a fuss. i am her friend but for some reason.. lately she wont let me even rub her. i swear i never yell, slap or try to take her freedom away. my other horses go with everything i say. and im happy but shes different. if you could help me that would be great. i love horses but i have a feeling something happened to her leg she has scars on it i dont know what happened. parents say its nothing.. help?

@RodeoHorsey : New place, wind, new camera lady, people riding bikes by, riding and running horses around us, a lot of and group of runners, strange place, I am talking which I normally don't do, he is a horse and horses get nervous, he is a survivor, I was doing things that I never do and probably other things. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

I got a friend who's all talk and no action about horses. She says she wants one when she doesn't even want to shovel up horse turds and keep the place clean whenever she's at my house. Yesterday she was trying to pck my my horse's hoof and said, "Your horse is stupid it won't pick up it's foot, here you do it." All she was doing was standing way away form the horse and pulling on it's feltlock. If she actually thinks that she can own a horse all by herself, she is dead wrong.

@jupitarlove : she can buy and own a horse it just will not be taken care of like many horses that get bought for LOVE. People have kids that should not and people buy and own horses that should not.
