At the very least a simple congratulations are in order, I think that is the classy thing to do. Poor losers are only worse than poor winners and it is nice to see you are taking it in stride. He can't hardly say you cheated when he had time for his fans to bid after your auction closed and he can't hardly call "foul" or "cheat" seeing as he entered the challenge on ebay.
There is no doubt you won - 54 vs 61 - the math is pretty easy to do.
