Best way to learn to to write in general is to READ as much as you can get your hands on. You don't learn how to do open heart surgery by just trying it, you have to study the technique and skills. That's what reading does. It exposes you to styles and lets you see how to achieve certain moods in your scenes.
Also, there is a little book called 'The Elements of Style'. Buy it, read it, memorize it. It will be your bible in the early stages of your training
