I was at Clarence Paul's (one of the 4 writers on this song) house working on a leadsheet when Tony Tennille called and asked for his permission to do the song.
CP was a man of few words and said "Hell Yeah" - that's a stupid question!", chuckling over the phone.
Tony is one of my idols. She's singing the hell out of this song.....and one of the "classiest" people in Hollywood.

Shes a great singer but shes singing a song thats just...ehh.. she should have changed it a bit.
Not a good song because of the original vocals. She could make it wonderful. Shes probably one of the best singers of that century. American Idol is a sick joke and a slap in the face to people like Toni, who actually possess talent.

I remember when they did this on their tv show in a concert spot featuring the songs of Stevie Wonder, it was great. It really fits her singing style!
