From Woodstock, 1969. Pete Townshend discusses his mental state while he's on stage followed by their Woostock performance of "Sparks" from Tommy. Such loud orchestrated chaos is yet to be matched and is beautiful music to my ears.

  • WOW! 3:42 gives me the chills! lol

  • @rockotter1 Me too! I first saw this movie in our local theater the weekend it came out. Definitely THE best rockumentary of the band!

  • Such great comments! Thanks all of you! My friends and I are 50-somethings, and we were lamenting on how today's bands just don't put on this kind of performance any more. Truly, this is at the top of my all-time favorite Who performances.

  • I'm going to go so far to say that it's the best moment in rock ever filmed.

  • Reminds me of that scene in Spinal Tap when Nigel is talking about his solos lol

  • @MichaelHansenFUN Yes, Blood! And then shortly after that tag, he's bashing his head into the back of his guitar. And he called Moon the loony one. Ha!

  • Its just perfection!

  • 2:20 blood HUH?

  • yes its bllod kids NO NEVER NOTICED THAT

  • Great stuff! Not many videos have this much of amazing journey added in.

  • My Dad has been a massive Who fan all his life and I was born in 78 and can remember Tommy as far back as a toddler, but he is more like me and likes the diversity of every album. I have even been to see them myself and blown away, but this version of sparks is just superb. Pete says at the end of this interview they had went beyond the beyond and he must have been thinking of Lifehouse at this point. How far can you take music and talent

  • The Who=Controlled Chaos!

  • To every single kid that happens to stumble across this, or search it out wondering about The ''Ooo", This is a perfect example of rock Guitar at its finest hour. If you REALLY want to be in a Rock n Roll band, don't let anyone tell you any different. This is who you have to top. Not "Nickleback" or some crap like that.. The Who.

  • 2.20 :yes it is blood coming out of his hands!

  • P 90 pick ups !!Hi watt amps on 11!!
