I circuit bended an old Alesis HR 16 and made it "Rise from it's Grave" to create "Altered Beats" a new instrument inspired by the Sega game Altered Beast. http://offinc.blogspot.com/2009/10/altered-beats-noise-making-monster.html for pics and more info.
As you can see I didn't just change the interior, I gave it a paint job, and replaced all the buttons with stickers on top. I also made a nifty face plate.
About the Bend:
On the right side is the RCA patch bay, and the "main patch cables" the RCA cables coming out the side, those cables really are the same as the connections on the patch bay.
On the left side is the "Patch Combiner" where all of the connections in this bay are connected to each other except the bottom two. This let's you combine up to 6 connections into one mega patch. The bottom two on this side is the "Patch Fader" which allows you to alter the sound of some patches.
During this demo- the drum machine is being controlled via midi by an ER-1
@sigmentfloyd The buttons are from the original machine. I measured them and made a template of the machine in photoshop. I then printed my new design onto sticker paper, cut them out and covered the top with packing tape so they wouldn't smudge. And then sticked them on! :)

@seeyouintheeighties This Tuesday I'll be talking about circuit bending and doing a live bend on this awesome podcast - Search for 9thfloorradio New Histories for New Times , if you want to listen.

what does all this circuit bent thing mean?

Thanks for the comment, but I don't see how I ruined anything. The drum machine can still function exactly like the original Alesis HR-16.

Sorry, but what a frelling sonic mess - You appear to have ruined a perfectly good classic drum machine... But, I do like the rainbow buttons!
