The aircraft remained in service for almost 40 years until the USAF withdrew the C-141 from service in May 2006, replacing the aircraft with the C-17 Globemaster III.

  • I definitely love that camo paint scheme on that C 141. I would like to own one of these birds.

  • It sure was a lot of fun to work on...

  • It is a really good strategic transporter aircraft even it has already retired.

  • Its amazing how fast that huge plane accelerates.

  • i want me one of those

  • United BAE 146, 727, DC10, it's all crap now....

  • Back when my father worked for Lockheeds facility at KBUR every few days an air force starlifter would arrive to take away the completed structures for the F117s that were being built at the feild. While the starlifter was on final approach all of the airport lights except for the taxiway lighting to the hanger where the airframes were stored were exinguished and the airport was virtually closed until after the Starlifter departed.
