This performance is stunning. I didn't think it could be improved until I heard his studio recording. Rubinstein possessed the ability to express the most raw emotions without histrionics or ego. This comes straight from Beethoven's tortured soul to your ears. Rubinstein's fingers are the medium. Appassionata is the message!

Arthur Rubinstein is just terrific.
He can even move people who don't like classical music.
For this recording, I think he really brings out the deepest emotion of Appassionata. So amazing and beautiful.
