Pada puja means worship of the feet. The tradition is that the spiritual powers of an enlightened being flow from the head to the feet, so it is most auspicious to touch the feet of a Master.

  • I want that done to my feet!

Well, what exactly is happening to his feet? What are they putting on his feet?

  • It's "pada puja", worship of the feet.

In most eastern and middle eastern traditions, the feet of spiritual masters emanate powerful spiritual blessings. Hence, it's considered a great blessing to touch the feet of a God realized being.

Worship is offered by bathing in water, then such good offerings like milk, curds, honey, sugar, perfume, fruit, and coconut water. The food that is offered becomes blessed ("prashad") and to eat it is to take in that blessing.

  • Is this Hindu culture?

  • It's an ancient culture.
