a short piece of incredible film can take days and thousands of feet of film. the filming of das tumbling tumbleweeds happened over a great period of time, in brutal weather conditions. this is one of the disastrous events captured on film. the wind, mariah, was angry that day, but not angry enough. tumbleweed wrangler, rhys jones, let bessie and willow out too early, and the results almost had the cast and crew running for the minivan. director jane philips ("inside the outside inside", "my uncle shaved daily", and "mussolini;the softer side") almost followed the crew to leave, but with an enthusiastic "let's win one for my slipper" speech, rallied the crew for enough takes to finish the film.
