In the mid 80s I was the first to make what to day is called The Fisher Cube. Later I made a micro version from a black plastic 20mm factory made Rubik's Cube. I hadn't been making puzzles very long and the quality was poor.
I always wanted to make a better version. However in order to do that I needed some decent quality Micro Rubik's Cubes. There were loads of the old ones left over from the 80s but these had a reputation of breaking very easily. There were also some newer ones but they hardly moved and are in fact worse than the old ones.
When I finally found a satisfactory micro cube (19mm) I could at last make this in 2008 along with my other tiny Rubik's Cube transformations.
It was constructed by first gluing on pieces from a second cube and then cutting it down with a Dremel. Any holes were filled with white Milliput. The quality is very good with smooth rotational movement. Standard Rubik's Cube style stickers were used.
