  • I thought originally they had backup batteries that were charged by running on the overhead wire, which gave them the limited off-wire capability. Interesting that they have backup diesels.

  • Yea, Vancouver's Trackleses have that.

  • So lucky to see these so often! I am jealous.

  • Please I live no where near a trackless trolley route, this is just the charter trip.

  • so they have backup diesels? wat engine? pretty loud

  • The backup diesel engine is a Cummins QSB 4.3. Didn't Seem to loud to me, I loved it. :D

  • Just my two pennies but I think SEPTA should have gone with batteries instead of diesel for backup. I don't see any advantage of diesel over batteries. I have a feeling it was a political decision.

  • wow you guys put these trolleys to desiel back here in vancouver were going green not like you planet killers we kept our trolleys electric and electric onley and here in vancouver we have the new flyer e60lfr just type into serch on youtube and write vancouvers new flyer e60lfr and it will show u its ecsacually the same as this but its articulated!!!

  • ok im confused if their suppose to be back up im guessing their only supposed to b used in emergency but yet some drivers may go the whole route in diesel mode " trust me i rode once and witnessed" Im just saying they should've put a regular cummins ISL or sumthin in it since septa said they were dual modes meaning they were suppose to run on diesel and electric in normal operation not for back up? right????? somebody answer dat for me????

  • The concept of an All-Service Vehicle (ASV) has been in place since the late twenties and throughout the thirties in New Jersey. The ASVs travelled extensively on routes in Northern New Jersey. Newark and environs had many lines, and photos abound with these state-of-the-art coaches. I have been on Castor Avenue numerous times, and have seen the new coaches on wire and running with diesel engines. They are 'kneeling' busses in compliance with the ADA, have A/C, very comfortable, and quick.
