Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan was the son of Bairam Khan, Akbar's tutor and also one of the nine gems of his court. But, I seriously need to be pulled up here, if I claim to be a connoisseur of archaeological artefacts, even if amateurish. There is no way I should have missed this Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan's tomb all these years, it lies here in the centre of the city, on Mathura Road, worse, I make it to the Comesun Restaurant at Nizamuddin Railway Station, almost every midnight for a cup of hot milk and all these years, I had absolutely no inkling of this monument. Perhaps, it lay hidden by the overgrowth of vegetation or perhaps a few trees have been felled to make way for the new flyover, that has made it visible from the Mathura Road, I must hang my head down in shame for never knowing that it was there in the first place. The monument, which is a very bad replica of the Humayun Tomb, is being restored. Not a bad place or an evening walk.
