Sam Houston Tollway NW Plaza and Exit by RdIR Architects

This year's Design Award jury -- David Salmela, FAIA, from Duluth, Minn.; Steve Dumez, FAIA, of New Orleans; and James Russell, FAIA, of New York -- met on May 20 in Austin. They spent almost nine hours working through the 257 entries before selecting 12 for Design Awards. Several times they expressed the difficulty in choosing the winners—a confirmation of the elevated level at which architecture is practiced here in Texas. Collectively, these 12 award-winning projects represent the diversity of our state's architectural profession and the increasing role that architects from Texas play in the globalized forum of design.

Awarded projects are also featured in the September/October issue of Texas Architect.
