The fight against drug use in America has been going on since the turn of the last century but the term "War on Drugs" only became part of our national dialogue in 1970 when it was first used by President Richard Nixon.
The President later formed the DEA and started a push to outlaw drugs of all kinds. Among the most discussed drugs in this war is Marijuana. This special will look at the storied and strange history of Marijuana in America.

Comment: I used to be strictly conservative on pot laws. However, I recently discovered the actual history behind prohibition laws, and it opened my eyes. I was shocked when I realized that I had been deceived.
It's one of the oldest known medicines. The first colonists were required to grow it, and you could pay taxes with it. It's safer than alcohol and cigarettes though it's a Schedule 1 Narcotic, which says it's supposedly more dangerous than coke, morphine and amphetamines!
I have not found a single valid argument to continue prohibition and many good arguments to end it. Save tens of billions each year, add tens of billions in new taxes, starve gangs of revenue, provide an alternative to alcohol that's safer and cheaper, reduce prison populations and drug-related violence, provide a cheaper and cleaner alternative for paper pulp and bio-fuels...I could go on, but you should get the point.
And if you say "Think about the kids!" I have. Currently, they have easier access to pot than alcohol BECAUSE it's unregulated. In countries where it's regulated, there is a much lower rate of juvenile use.
This program does an excellent job of explaining the truth.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

They care about testing marijuana for pesticides? Give me a break, the entire food chain is infected with toxic waste & pesticides.

Everything I've read about marijuana states; this plant has a natural pesticide built in.

MJ grows just about everywhere, it absorbs 5X the C02 per acre than trees, it is pest, mold & drought resistant. It can provide the planet with fuel (renewable), food (perfect Omega 3 to 6 ratio), building material (strongest), clothing, rope & CURES JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Thank you and I mean that from the bottom of my heart!

I just wish this medicine (which nature intended) was available to the millions suffering right now for treatments from whatever ails them.

It's always about control and money.... until we see the downfall of Big Pharma & their bought and paid for Government Agencies, we will never see this medicine in a free world.

i can see theres ignorance on both sides of the pot legalization debate, im pro legalization of course but i hope everyone for legalization knows that its not the harmless drug that people think it is, there are in fact harmful effects to it, and as for the people who are against it, has the war on drugs worked even a little bit? NOPE

    (202) 224-3121 Contact your congress person and ask them to legalize cannabis. The time is now to end the drug war, prohibition is racist and costs over $20 billion per year.

Totally agree with you. But do know that smoking, ingesting, consuming,, in any way, we are connecting the cannabinoid receptors in the human body to hemp / marijuana. It's as if MJ was put on this planet to heal us from just about everything that ails us.

It's illegal because Big Pharma and their bought off slaves known as *Government* can't PROFIT from a natural herb. They would rather manufacture their poison potions that only mask the problem for money. Say no to BIG PHARMA.

I totally agree with you man. It may be a little out of theme, but we are all modern slaves, ran by the governments across the globe, and that pisses me off. We should be allowed to smoke marijuana, because it's our body, and what person is allowed to tell me what I can do and what I can not do with my body? (Pardon my English, Norwegian teen passing through^^)
