  • I hate to say this Guys but GE is beating EMD because of the power in a 12 Cyl. engine! And the horsepower in those engines!! And AC traction motors!! EMD is still going on a 16 cyl. engine but is catching up! They need more hp!! If a standard EMD had 8000hp and have awesome fuel mileage! Than BAM! EMD is at the top! GE's are better in fuel mileage and putting the horsepower on the ground!

  • @cbehr91

I think I may have a reason why and it has to do with the size of each GE locomotive fleet. Don't you think it would have been better to rebuild let's say a 1000 diesels of the same model versus a few hundred in each different model? I have a feeling that as the Dash 9s, AC4400s, and the GEVOs get older there maybe a rebuild program for those engines in the future kind of like what the ATSF did with the U36s, which became SF30Cs.

  • dash 7 locomotives were the backbone of mexico's fleet for a long time, and most of them were purchased new, even kits were build(B23-7,and the super7's),and to think that they (the old N de M sistem)were a loyal emd customer they decided to buy rebuilds from former milwaukee road and others from VMV paducah built, and Morrison knudsen, something is true,i'd rather see dash 7 and dash 8's with regular cabs anyday than all the widecabs from both manufacturers

  • Simple, they're cheap, about 10 to 50 thousand dollars less then a comparable EMD. That's not to say they were all garbage. From an engineer's stand point, the C30-7 was probably the best of the run. Go into the Dash-8 and the locomotive relies to heavily on a computer and not the engineer's wit.

  • HAHAHAHA! You're a freaking tool.

Look at what you said, "GE units suck." THEN you said "I do like the older GE units like seen here." Wow, just wow. Hypocrite... dumbfuck hypocrite.

  • Man those Dash 7's sound really good! I miss Conrail.

  • Garbage without GE is Arbag.....

I don't like the new GE's externally but I love the GEVO cab!

  • Guys! GE units suck. They slip, excellerate badley. I prefer an EMD anyday at work. The C30-7's were constantly assigned to the B&A .. I do like the older GE units like seen here. The Dash 8 and 9 and the new ones suck. They are very quiet and pulling power should be as loud as posible. F Green! Go black everybody! Smokem out!

  • CAN'T SPELL GARBAGE WITHOUT GE!!!
