The newest Mini Maglites have 14 Lumen LED's instead of a bulb. Although I'm sure this trick will still work if you want to install more/less powerfull LED's/bulbs, or even a 100mw+ laser diode as Kipkay mentioned in his project.

@MicrotekMybisi its still useless for realistic use. i did read the description. all you mention is a website, hot to do it, and "This is the simplest way i've found to convert a mini Maglite to LED". thumbs down for you.
note. for this to be brighter (like what people want) you should get a high brightness led with a very narrow viewing angle

What a waste of good flashlight. You can't see two feet ahead of you with that LED bulb that is designed as an indicator lamp and not a light!

what? aren't leds rated by volts instead of millimeters? will any led run on any voltage? any idea how long it will last?

@nlty2000 3mm is the diam. of the led... They call for 2 to 3 volts without a resistor, and would be ideally driven on 3 volts with a 150 Ohm resistor. They call for 200 mA Thanks for watching my video!
