No, he isn't an incredibly pleasant man. My mother and brother are both glass artists and it is widely known throughout the glass community once you work for him there is no working anywhere else because he is paranoid of his techniques being copied. However, as the pop star of the art world right now... I could not think of another talent that deserves it more. I LOVED this show!

Dale Chihuly is a local boy that I see in the neighborhood often.
You should see our new glass museum which he helped design,in Tacoma!

I was in a clients home recently. I commented on her collection and asked if it was "Chihuly". She looked at me with raised eyebrows. I think she was impressed that I knew who he was. She responded "yes" and went on to tell me that he was actually at their home for dinner some weeks back. She said he was not real pleasant.
