Thanks to SP.
One of my favorite Phelanie scenes. This conversation was so important and I am glad they had it onscreen. Melanie who had a terrible adoptive parent struggles to understand Philip;s choices about giving up his son Pocket. (I personally think that sometimes the greatest way to love someone is to let them go. I think Philip was right to let a loving family take his son, when he was not capable at the time of giving the baby all that he needed and deserved)
Notice the physical acting in the scene. Philip and Melanie are such a touchy feely loving couple. But as Philip talks about giving up his son they are apart, not touching. When he returns with coffee, there is so much space between them on the bench. Then Melanie understands what he did...the gap is bridged. Just love how Jay and Molly use nonverbal acting in their scenes.
Love your commentary on this scene and totally agree
