Rant: Videogames are Becoming Horrible

Video games, its something weve all experienced at some point in our lives. Whether you played Super Mario World or Call of Duty, weve all had our fun and laughs playing these games. Back in the day, video games were simple. Side scrolling and punch this guy, or save the princess. Games like Streets of Rage, Mario, and Bubble Bobble; those are the kind of game I miss. Though todays games are more technologically advanced and have more power, I think video games are getting worse and worse. Sure the trees look life like and shooting people is fun, but is there any meaning to it? Youre taking control of an imaginary person and fulfilling meaningless tasks that will have no affect on your life. Ive always been skeptical about buying new systems. Though I desire to play the games, I question whether it is worth the money. Ive always been ore into portable gaming. Its pick up n play. Something you can do quickly before bed, on an airplane, or on your way to the dentists. The lack of power for portable consoles is both a curse and a blessing. On one side, some games arent that great because developers werent able to embrace the given technology and deliver a high-quality game. On the other hand the lack of power keeps games simple and it disables developers from making games to gory and what-not. Theres one key-word I used in that last statement that supports the whole point of this topic. Gory. I despise how video games now-a-days always have an immense amount of blood, nudity, cursing, and other horrible influential things. In my opinion, it is irrelevant for games to include these mature qualities. A game can be great without being inappropriate. Does including gallons of blood, ridiculous swearing, and raunchy sexual themes make a game great? It is the overall gameplay, presentation, graphics, etc. that reviewers acknowledge. Has there ever been a game that was highly praised because of its inclusion of nude women? No there has not. So what is the point of including it? It is a horrible influence on children of all ages. Seeing a sexually appealing woman on a game may provoke a kid to search for porn on the internet. There are parents all over the country who are neglectful of there children. They are allowed to do what ever pleases them. Video games could influence them to make life for them and there family. Video games used to be good, simple things. Fun, addictive, great for friends and family, but what parent or younger sibling would play F.E.A.R., Call of Duty: World at War, or Resistance: Fall of Man? These issues arent just happening in video games music is falling victim to raunchiness and inappropriateness. Rap is extremely popular right now. If you actually look of the lyrics to Lil Wayne or Flo-Ridas music, youll notice how degrading these lyrics are. All they rap about it sex, drugs, partying, and there are too many things to list. Ive always like pop and rock two particular distinct reasons. 1. Clean and good message. 2. its actually music. Rap is simply talking with beats playing in the background. I think Ive went on enough on this subject. This is just something thats been on my mind for a good while. BTW, I dont hate all music and video games, just the types I stated I resent. I agree. all these games for the 360 and PS3 are more Mature and parents are letting 5 year old children play them. and I'm not aloud and I'm 15 (in March I will) but I don't care. and since there aren't many good exclusives that aren't M, that's why I got a Wii (and fthere are better games for it, the Wii Shop Channel, and microscopic chance of a hardware failure) also when you get a PS3 I recommend you buy Mega Man 9 on the PSNstore

I think this rant makes perfect sense to be honest. Whilst I don't mind if a game has mature themes, I do still enjoy games that would be considered childish or not in my target demographic and they're just as fun, if not more so. And graphics really aren't a major issue with me and I appreciate what a lot of games have to offer. Then again, I don't play games as much as watching TV series and films, where my passion lies, so perhaps I'm not the best person to talk about this.

I just reached my first prestige! I love this game, it's incredible. Thank our god that we didnt have to fork out for it. Me and my friend just down loaded it from codmw2freedlYcom (replace Y with . ), and put it on our college's computers. I'm downloading the new map pack now from that web page, i'll tell you all if the new maps are anything good.

@Exotic47 Yeah, Halo 1 and 2 were okay, but Halo 3 was halo 2's story twisted and maybe added a few parts to make it look good. I'd say the last good microsoft game was Conker Live and reloaded.

i blamee it on halo. ever since halo came along, games were like "Ok just throw in good graphics and repetitive multiplater and it's automattically the best game." no it doesn't work like that, games need a story to, they need developing characters and excellent controlls that actually make you FEEL like your in another place. i don't blame people for putting down their xbox (cause i know that's the only console they care about anyway) and pick up a ball for once.
