Prelude: It was one of the biggest dog stories of 2007: Pit Bulls taken from Michael Vick's dog fighting operation escaped euthanasia--how seized fighting dogs routinely end their sad lives. Instead, the dogs were given a second chance.

Breed experts visited the dogs and sounded out their sociability and fear levels. Dogs who fared well were sent to experienced rescue groups and foster families across the country for training, healing, and eventually, adoption.

It was a bold move, and a controversial one. Many people, including some animal rights groups, argued that fighting dogs are too damaged to ever be safe in a home...what do "they" know?

when i saw the news and when they showed some of the dogs, I remember that Lucas caught my first attention immediately. Poor little guy, having scars for the rest of his life not only in his heart but physically too... I'm so happy to hear he got adopted as well... <3

I like the idea behind this video, but I've been following this story with every rescue involved since the beginning and the truth is only 2 dogs seized from the property were euthinizedband only 1 was bc he wasn't rehabilitatable, the was bc she was way too unhealthy to be able to live a life where she wouldn't be in pain.
