Discover the wild edible wine cap mushroom or Stropharia rugosa-annulata in Glover Vermont. Wine colored cap (in northern VT the cap is a cream color on top), pronounced ring on white stalk, lilac to purple gills. Often growing on wood chips after a rain from summer to fall. However it is unpredictable as to when exactly new mushrooms will bloom making the wine cap not commercially viable. Dark purplish spore print. Please consult multiple sources before eating any wild edible mushrooms. Have an expert ID any mushroom for you before you eat it for the first time.
