Repulsion, Umbrellas of Cherbourg, and Belle de Jour. From 1964-1967 Catherine Deneuve solidified her position as "The Face of France". Polanski, Demy, and Bunuel all were able to use her face to tell a story of an ingenue's dark side. For Polanski, she became a killer, for Demy she became a shrew, and for Bunuel she became a nymphomaniac.
