Finding the Rich Woman in You - Clips from the two hour PBS Special with Rich Dad co-founder, Kim Kiyosaki and retirement investment advisor, Kim Snider, providing viewers with the opportunity to get independent financial advice. Aired on PBS stations nationwide. A television event about cash flow investing, financial security and how to make your money work hard for you rather than you working hard for your money. Full program featured a guest appearance by Kim's husband, Robert Kiyosaki. Total run time of clip is 6:43.

Topics covered:

Is there a right way to invest? (0:00) Everyone is looking for *the* right way to invest. Kim Snider and Rich Woman author, Kim Kiyosaki, discuss the idea that there is no one right way to invest, whether for retirement investment income or otherwise. There is the right way for you. Kim Kiyosaki and Kim Snider are both cash flow investors but Kiyosaki does it with real estate investing whereas Snider does it by harnessing the power of option premiums from the sale of options on common stock. Both are successful using their own variation of the same cash flow philosophy. The key is to find something that makes sense to you, then find someone who is achieving the results you want and learn from them.

Why don't we teach basic principles of financial literacy to our kids? (1:07) Kim Snider and Kim Kiyosaki discuss basic financial education and the impact it would have if we taught basic financial principles like compounding interest, cash flow investing versus capital appreciation investing and some basic entrepreneurship skills to our kids, particularly those in challenging situations.

The five different sources of cash flow (1:35) - Kiyosaki and Snider discuss the five different sources of cash flow, other than a paycheck. They are royalties, rent from real estate, interest, dividends and option premiums from the sale of options against an asset you own (covered calls and/or puts). Most people think of cash flow investing from real estate but paper assets are also equally well suited to generating retirement investment income.

What is your money's higher purpose (2:41) - Kim Snider discusses the concept of your money's higher purpose, something she wrote about in her book, How to Be the Family CFO. She tells Kim Kiyosaki, her money's higher purpose, for example, is to always have enough cash flow to be able to pay her bills no matter what happens. This matches up with the higher purpose of most people, which is to ultimately have enough investment income to be able to pay all their bills in retirement without work or worry. Snider explains that buy and hold (buy and hope) doesn't cut it when your objective is income replacement and why for over a decade, she has had to work on creating an alternative method of creating cash flow from a portfolio of paper assets.

Putting market fluctuations in perspective (3:47) - Kim Snider gives her perspective on market fluctuations ( bear markets) and their impact long term. She explains why she is a long-term believer in the U.S. economy but that these short term disruptions are exactly why she is a cash flow investor. They can be devastating if not planned for and managed properly. Sufficient cash flow means lifestyle is not dependent on short term value of assets - very important when you are investing for retirement.

Managing risk (5:44) - Kim Snider and Kim Kiyosaki give a different perspective on risk, which is that profit is the reward for risk. The investor's job is to manage the trade-off between risk and reward. If you take too much risk, fear will cause the investor to sell at the exact wrong moment, causing risk to work against you. Too little risk could mean not meeting your objectives. Risk is not bad except when there is too much. Risk management is key.

  • Kim K. recommending Kim S. was sufficient enough for me to get interested. I have been using a modified Snider Investment Method for the last 3 years very successfully. I am very impressed with her both as a system builder, and a financial advisor. Thanks goes to both Kims.
