Let's see, The Impossibles,Madness,Big D and the Kids Table,Let's Go Bowling,The Toasters,Mad Caddies,The Uptones just to name a few. All were punky/ska bands with heavy bass and an overdone horn section to cover up a weak guitar. As far as the lyrics being genius, she repeats the phrase trapped in a box over 30 times in three minutes. And the over all message is a color in the lines metaphor for being on t.v. Yeah, really gripping. There's no need to be nasty about it.

@diedahero please tell me what other ska bands debut album sounds anything close to this. the bass on this album is absolutely perfect and if anything the horns need to be turned up. Do you like your ska with very little bass and horns? and the lyrics are fucking genius, ESPECIALLY this song. and the guitar work is wonderful
If you're not here to worship the amazing work these people did on this album, please fuck off.

Because their main songwriter quit? lol. Their keyboardist wrote this whole album and the one after it but quit during Tragic Kingdom because he hated touring so Gwen took over. And as far as it being "one of the most original albums ever written..." it's just Ska. It sounds like 1,000 other Ska bands debut albums. The horns and bass are turned up way too high, the lyrics are a chorus of repeating nothingness, and the only guitar work is a solo slapped in the middle.

This album is possibly one of the most original albums ever written. This music compared to music being written today for pop radio is like Beethoven compared to nursery rhymes. God my mind gets fucking blown every time i hear this album! Why did these guys have to turn into whatever the fuck they are today? this was magical.

@cherrybombx27 it is a far gone era. music today is about fashion money and fame. not about life. not real life anyway. no doubt died out when gwen stefanni sold the band out for a little more money. her songs/videos even depict it. sad music today has become a machine that generates a song video image and the mass consumers eat it up as if its better then white bread.
