Finally drums that sound like, well, drums! I hate when people put their laundry in the bass drum and make smilies out of moongels on their toms.
I like my drums wide open too. In fact, I use coated G1's on both sides of my bass drum. No port, nothing inside. It sounds like thunder and is heard clearly when playing unmiked with my rock band. I don't want my drums to sound like the cardboard boxes they came in.

whatever, we play different genres so. but still just not what id consider good especially for a brand like dw.

I love the invisible cymbal I really want want one.

@Patate2112 The reason why drummers usually have portholes is because if they are in a band that is doing gigs and is a big venue they need the drums to be miced and putting a mic up against a skin with no port hole sounds crap... I think people need to understand the science of how putting padding in the bassdrum alternates the sound because I've seen people who just pack their bassdrum... and I've only got one pillow in there just to give it a good thud but also give it some room to breathe

too much wrist all the time!.... wristy fills are grooves are cool but I have been waiting to hear you put you're whole arm and back into a stroke. if you are serious about someone helping you with technique I will be real nice about it and help you out.

its his drum set, remember that. just because its not your preference of tuning, size, or brand doesent mean its no good. i dont like DW, and i dont like haveing my drum set up that small, but if he likes the way it sounds and he can still have fun with it, then i say let him do his thing.

@theburyboys well, if people want me to be completely honest I will just say it: if you are a drummer who thinks steve gadd sucks and you produce this kind of shit (especially), you need to fucking check yourself cuz he owns the fuck out of you XD
-
@playswithpassion - I agree. I hate it when people bash Gadd. Those people should start by buying Steely Dan's Asia album. Steve can play any style of music and his groove is second to none. Little do they probably know that a lot of drummers borrowed grooves and fills from Steve. Even Neil Peart took a couple fills for the Test for Echo album. And Gadd is one of the top sought after studio drummers of all time.

Fucking love that DW bass man, so punchy for a 24", might just be the recording, but lush anyway.

Extended rare footage can only be rare if someone is seeking it out. IMO.
is this a DW edge brass snare in this video?

from the videos of yours I've seen you seem to be a very talented drummer, especially self taught. you dont seem to fall back on the same thing a lot which is what I tend to do being self taught as well. keep it up!

Ive been watching your videos. you are a good drummer. I think if you smoothed out your doubles you;d kill it more. rllr repeat is great for that. Any chance that moonglow kit for sale?

thanks for the kind words. as am totally self taught and prob have a lot of bad habits i have always wanted someone to analyse my playing and say what needs to be done to hone it a bit, so thanks for that i'll give it a go... yep the gretsch is defo my fave of them all but would be willing to sell for the right price...
