As a non profit dedicated to activating and enhancing greenspace, ParkWorks has long recognized the value of bringing arts organizations and individual professional artists to community greenspaces; allowing artists to interact directly with community members and helping neighborhood children understand the personal and social importance of the arts. This summer, we have renewed our partnerships with residents, local community development corporations and professional arts organizations to develop a schedule of events that are interesting and relevant to each neighborhood.
This video is a compilation of the stop motion animation projects completed at one of our arts programming events at Lake Pool Park in the Detroit Shoreway Neighborhood. Stop Motion is a technique used to make an object look like its moving on its own. This is done by moving the object in very small increments and taking an individual picture of the object in between each movement. When viewing the pictures in sequence, it appears as though the object is moving on its own. We used clay, paper, markers, chalk, and other objects to create our stop motion videos. ParkWorks partnered with the talented artists of Progressive Arts Alliance for this project.
