Bravo Toyota for stepping up and repairing these affected vehicles far beyond the warranty period. The domestics would hide behind their big 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. This one is 8yrs old with 168,000 miles.

  • and stupid , blind americans still whole heartedly believe in toyota and they do no wrong..geeze...and the same ppl will put down the big3 ......what a bunch of japanese junk ....i have a 1977 f 150 with no frame issue's [AT ALL] ...OH...DID I MENTION MY TRUCK IS 32 YEARS OLD???.....down with toyota ...

    TOYOTA ='S .....FAIL.........LOSER TRUCKS

  • October 2009 Update: Ford Recalls Another 4.5 million Vehicles Due To Fire Risk

    On October 13, 2009, Ford Motor Co. expanded its largest-ever recall by about 4.5 million vehicles equipped with a faulty cruise-control switch linked to at least 550 vehicle fires nationwide, and the DESTRUCTION OF MANY HOMES and other properties. Ford has now recalled more than 14 million vehicles in eight separate recalls over a 10-year period because of the problem.

  • sure..i always said ford was no angel when it came to recalls , but in the last few years ford has really changed and it shows ..they have cleaned up thier act and now ford had world class reliability and thats a fact, but ppl like you dont like to admit that the [supirior] toyota also has been having its share of issues as well..like the floor mats?..and the self accellerating issue that has been going on longer then this so called floor mat issue ..even toyota is not imune

  • I love the comment on education. You can barely spell. Anyway, back to the floor mat issue. That isolated incident was traced back to a dealership's rental car girl who mistakenly put a passenger side mat on the driver's side. I can't speak for everyone, but if my car was speeding along like that, instead of picking up my phone and calling 911, I would simply push the shifter into neutral and coast to the side. They may have been from Pennsyl-tucky though...

  • yes.i would do the same , but NHTSA said there are to many issue's reported over self accelerating toyota vehicles to just brush it off as driver error ..and toyota is also being investigated over frame rust and people losing thier spare tires..and losing rear breakes as well ...toyota has a problem L O N G before the recall over a floor mat with self accelerating vehicles

    sorry dude..you can bust on me about my spelling , but the fact is, toyota sucks ass ..AND I WILL NOT BUY JAPANESE

  • OK, enough said. But, I was pleased to read today that the Tundra also has frame troubles. Please keep in mind that I fix these vehicles, and didn't engineer them. So I am quite pleased to hear that Toyota will continue their extended coverage to another 110,000 vehicles. That means big dollars for me, and that makes me smile.

  • americans are not blind we like jap trucks for a reason. Ranger sucks ass and Colorado is not far behind. Full size are wack no fun to drive, park, cruise. Frames on toyota should come from factory with por15

  • the frames in the affected toyotas are made by chrysler

  • @390merc65 I'll be uploading a video of my dad's Silverado today, it shows the amount of rust on the bottom so far.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors well seeing you live up there its almost believable then ,,,but in p.a i see chevys that are a few years old that the rear bumper is already rotted out.

  • @390merc65 It was either a '94 or a '96 F150. We went to the tractor show yesterday and a guy had a rusted out F350. I asked him what year that was, he said it was an '05. I was really surprised at that. I live in Connecticut, he has used both his Ford and the Chevy for plowing, I still have a picture with that Ford truck in it somewhere, the year we gave it away which was 3 or 4 years ago.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors well tell me your dads generation?..give me some exact years of these trucks and what state do you live in ...my 77 has rust but it still has its original frame ...i recall chevys from the 70's that were terrible...and alot of 88 or newer chevys i see rusted out to the point the frame is broke in half...i se rusted out fords from the 90's but they are still on the road..anything will rust ..toyotas are just rust buckets

  • @390merc65 I know that, but I've seen a lot of Fords from my dad's generation up to the current one that rust out pretty easy, which is my main concern. His other Fords were fine as far as that issue goes, but the new ones are just rotting through in a matter of 5 years, which shouldn't be the case. His friend that convinced him to get his last Ford had to get rid of his old one because it was rusting.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors well you can have junk in any kind of car or truck..a few bad ones dont lay the law down as for all of them ..you can by a mercedes and have alot of trouble with it

  • @390merc65 We bought it because our family friend had just bought one and said he loved it. My dad has had 3 Ford trucks before that, none of them as bad as his last one.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors yeah i know..then the door fell off ,,windows fell out..hood blew open .steering wheel came off in your hands , heater broke..i heard it all before..my point is you dont see this on such a new american trucks..if you are such a ford hater why do you buy them?..and i have seen my share of rusted out junk chevy's also ,,,..chevy aint no better kid
