@eman1205 They would have had no issues with the numbers, as they didn't anywhere else thanks to massive technological superiority. It was sheer dumb luck that the rocky shallow waters prevented the ships from bearing their cannon and the armored soldiers with heavy weapons were force to wade neck deep through water.
On any other island, Spanish troops would have been successful as they had proven against various other forces around the world, including the Americas.

Does it really matter? Magellan's expedition was under the Spanish crown. If you mean it would be an interesting ahistorical concept for Magellan to circumnavigate the world for Portugal, I'd agree. Still, Portugal had already established a passage to the east indies from the east, which was the whole purpose of Magellan's expedition, to find a western route for Spain.

This was a better wonder in Civ3 when you could actually play as Portugal.

Those Civ 2 people were certainly 'inspired' by Last of the Mohicans. I know that the "Glade" was also made into the UN wonder theme.

Lapu-Lapu did not took out Magellan by himself. Magellan was ganged by Lapu-Lapu's men.

Do you even know why he was killed? He got what he deserved for interfering with local politics and thinking he can impress his newly found allies with his guns and cannons. He was slaughtered and his men barely escaped because they were deeply outnumbered.
