This is partly why I, an undergrad in chemistry, have decided not to go into grad school. I worked alongside grads pulling 19-hour lab shifts for a year, and it killed my soul.
(And theoretical chem is out of the question because the math kills my soul within 10 minutes)
But in all reality, this does convey on how alot of chemist feel about our disciplane.
My first two years of grad. school I've been taking nothing but course work and research in theoretical constructions of molecules. I wish I had course work load of organic, analystical chemist, ect... Sometimes I forget wither I'm a chemist, physicist, or mathematician.
Either way, I love my field. I'm facinated that my main weapon of attacking chemistry are equations!
Oh come on. Thats because as a physical & theorectical chemist-I'm always continously learning in the library. I've done organic. It's not as challenging or stimulating. Theoretical chemist not only study chemistry but were always having to learn new physics, mathematics, and computations. Our lab is a chalkboard. Morever, remember it was theoretical scientist that have lead the largest revolution in chemistry. It's one of the most difficult subjects to learn. It's no easy or a cake walk.

Oh come on, have a sense of humour! This is clearly meant to be a play on the stereotypes.
