蒙古族人民独有的音乐正是用来与大草原进行心灵对话的天籁之声。草原上的长调一直都是一代代人口口相传。 2005年长调已经成为人类口头和非物质文化遗产代表作。现在中国正在对长调展开搜集、整理、录音、记谱等工作，同时长调被列入了中国艺术科研重点项目。
