  • Gulaga, thank You for demonstrating the wonderfull Tar stringed instrument. I play many stringed instruments because I enjoy the feeling of other cultures and people through music. I only wish I could purchase a Tar for myself, but I have looked and cannot locate a Tar for sale. -Peter

  • Tar, is one of the oldest musical instruments of Azerbaijan. Таr is hollowed out from a tree in the form reminding a guitar. It has the case in the form of two bowls from the mulberry tree, tightened by a membrane replacing to a deck from an animal bubble or the fish skin, a long neck and a head from a nut tree.

    The developer of tar is the Azerbaijan musician-designer Sadyghjan (Mirza Sadyg Asad oglu), living in a XIX-th century and received a nickname «the Father of tar».
